Mein Asus M6N ist am Montag wieder vom Support in Holland zurÃ¼ckgekommen.
Leider haben sie nur den Display-Deckel ausgetauscht – meine Angaben, dass Netzteil sei defekt und die BemÃ¤ngelung des abgeblÃ¤tterten Lackes am Touchpadrand haben sie einfach ignoriert. Dabei stehen auch diese Fehler auf der RMA-Zusammenfassung, die Asus dem Paket beigelegt hat.
Um mein Netzteil hat sich heute morgen schon der hanni gekÃ¼mmert (aufgebrochen, Kabel gekÃ¼rzt und wieder drangelÃ¶tet).
Das Problem mit dem Lack ist ja nur kosmetischer Natur und stÃ¶rt mich eigentlich gar nicht so.

Mein Asus M6800N habe ich am vergangenen Freitag wegen einem Riss im Displaydeckel, abgeplatztem Lack am Touchpadrand und einem defekten Netzteil zu Asus nach Holland geschickt.
Schlimmes wurde vom Asus Support in einer der letzten c’ts berichtet, hoffe ich mal, dass ich mein Spielzeug bald wieder zurÃ¼ck habe. Im Schreiben stand etwas von fÃ¼nf Werktagen, was also Ende dieser Woche bzw anfang nÃ¤chster Woche wÃ¤re.

WLAN stopped working

WLAN stopped working for me after the last update (ipw2200 update to v1.0.1) because I used the interface name wlan0. The module parameter ifname is _not_ supported anymore. On the Gentoo Forums I found a solution: use the following line in your /etc/iftab : echo ‘ mac xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx’ >> /etc/iftab. Haven’t tested it. In the same forum thread there’s also a solution for udev.

Well, guess what happened? OMFG New BIOS finally fixes the battery!!!!!! – You don’t need to patch anything to get the battery working if you have the latest BIOS 0214A.

New ATI-Drivers

There have been new ati-drivers that support xorg-x11.
Quoting the ipw2200 changelog: Added initial support for WPA (thanks to Yi Zhu) — tested with wpa_supplicant (either tip w/ ipw driver, or with -Dipw2100) with both CCMP and TKIP.. I will have to test this soon…

Haven’t done anything on this page for a while now. BIOS is now version 0211A. I have swapped my Intel Pro/Wireless 2100b for a Intel Pro/Wireless 2200bg which is running with the Linux drivers from ipw2200.sf.net (or via emerge ipw2200).
