Partly fixed DSDT

Wednesday, den 3. March 2004

Ycarus (Yannick Chabanois) was so nice to send me a (partly) fixed version of the DSDT (BIOS Version 0205A) with which the battery status can be queried. You can find the compiled version here and the source code here. Remember that some things still might _not_ work. To use the DSDT you have to patch your kernel with the “ACPI DSDT in initrd patch” from http://gaugusch.at/kernel.shtml, just follow the instructions on that page.

I have uploaded the specification of the CD-ROM Combo drive SD-R2512 here. Thanks to Ricardo Cordeiro who provided me with the pdf file. You seem to need (at least) Acrobat Reader 6 (Windows) with Japanese Fonts (will download automatically) to view it.

Kernel config uploaded

Thursday, den 5. February 2004

I have solved my problems with genkernel which were reported by someone else in this bugreport. I do not have the time to finish this guide, so I have uploaded my kernel config here. This config was made using a 2.6.2 vanilla kernel, patched with the latest acpi4asus patch from here and the broadcom kernel patch that is part of the linux driver packages by broadcom.
Just FYI: the ACPI problems are still not solved with the 2.6.2 kernel.

First news entry – new page

Wednesday, den 28. January 2004

I am currently looking for a solution to the ACPI problems. One of the acpi4asus developer released a patch to version 0.27 yesterday with support for XXN Laptops but M6800N seems to be not included ATM. My Laptop IS running stable now, just follow the standard Installation instructions and use the information about bind /proc and /dev below. KDE3.2 runs great ( CFLAGS=”-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointers” ). I will continue this guide ASAP. A good source for development information are the Asus M6N Forums at encke.net.
UPDATE: I contacted Karol ‘sziwan’ Kozimor, one of the main acpi4asus developers. He asked me to send him my DSDT:
“Your laptop will be supported in the next update.”
